Crucible Course 1
Crucible Course is a training programme that equips Christians to follow Jesus on the margins. It tackles a range of missional topics in creative ways.
Restoring Hope (1)
The first session introduces participants to the theme of ‘shalom’, which is the overarching perspective from which this module is taught, and links together ‘hope’ and ‘restoration’, as well as ‘peace’ and ‘the kingdom of God’. This session provides a biblical backdrop to the module.
The second session reflects on the vocation of the church to ‘seek the shalom’ of the wider community, operating with a ‘kingdom’ vision that goes well beyond church growth, with particular reference to the local neighbourhood.
The third session focuses on the practice of hospitality, reflecting on the life of Jesus as guest and host, and exploring the potential of this practice for crossing boundaries and building community.
The fourth session applies the perspectives developed in previous sessions to the church and examines ways in which churches might need to change in order to become beacons of hope and agents of shalom.
The Crucible Course runs over 6 Saturdays – see the course brochure here.
Cost: £35 per day
(a small bursary is available for members of SWBA churches – contact Carl of details)
